How to play

Crescent Solitaire is a popular variation of the Solitaire card game. The name comes from the crescent shape the cards form when being dealt.

Goal. In Crescent, the goal is to move all the cards from the crescent outer piles to the 8 foundation piles in the middle.

Foundation. The bottom four foundation piles build up in suit from Ace to King (Ace, 2, 3 … Jack, Queen, King). The top four build down in suit from King to Ace (King, Queen, Jack, 10 .. .3, 2, Ace).

Moving cards. Cards on crescent piles can be moved from one crescent pile to another if they are the same suit and one greater than or less than the top card on the destination pile, wrapping in any direction, including the Aces and Kings.

You can move cards between foundation piles as long as the suit is the same.

EXAMPLE: a 5 on the upper row of foundation piles can be taken off a 6 and them placed on a 4 on the bottom foundation piles

NOTE: if you move all the cards from the crescent pile, you can't place a card into an empty space. Also, you can't take the starting (bottom) cards from the foundation piles

Hint and shuffle. The undo button will allow you to undo your last move. The hint button will show available moves one by one.

Reshuffle. If you find yourself out of moves, you can use the the Reshuffle button three times per game to reallocate cards in crescent piles.

Your score and time are presented at the very top.

Tips

Crescent Solitaire is an engaging and challenging solitaire card game that requires strategic thinking and planning. Playing the game online allows you to practice and improve your skills at your own pace. The following tips will help you enhance your Crescent Solitaire game and increase your chances of winning.

1. Analyze the tableau before making a move:

Before making any moves, take the time to study the tableau and identify potential card sequences. Look for cards that can be removed quickly, as well as those that are blocking multiple cards in the tableau.

2. Focus on the crescent:

Prioritize working on the crescent, as this is where most of the game's action occurs. Look for moves that will help you remove cards from the crescent and transfer them to the foundation piles.

3. Move cards between foundation piles:

In Crescent Solitaire, you can move cards not only from the tableau to the foundation piles but also between foundation piles. Use this to your advantage to create more space in the tableau and to uncover blocked cards.

4. Work on both ascending and descending sequences:

Remember that in Crescent Solitaire, half of the foundation piles are built in ascending order (Ace to King), while the other half are built in descending order (King to Ace). Keep an eye on both types of sequences to maximize your chances of winning.

5. Strategically use the stockpile and waste pile:

Whenever you draw a card from the stockpile, consider how it can be used in the tableau. Try to save cards in the waste pile that can create multiple moves or uncover multiple cards when played.

6. Plan your moves carefully:

As you play Crescent Solitaire, think about the possible consequences of each move and how it will impact the overall game. Try to foresee the cards that may become available after making a move and plan accordingly.

7. Balance your focus on foundation piles:

Try to maintain a balance between working on ascending and descending foundation piles. Focusing too much on one type may cause you to miss opportunities with the other.

8. Use the undo feature when needed:

Our Crescent Solitaire offers an "undo" feature that allows you to take back previous moves. Use this feature when you realize you've made a mistake or want to explore different strategies.

9. Don't hesitate to restart the game:

If you find yourself in a situation where you can't make any more moves or you believe you've made too many mistakes, don't hesitate to restart the game. Learning from your mistakes and trying again will help you improve your skills and develop better strategies.

10. Practice, practice, practice:

The more you play Crescent Solitaire, the better you'll become at recognizing patterns, planning moves, and devising winning strategies. Regular practice will help you develop a deeper understanding of the game and improve your overall performance.

By following these tips and consistently practicing your Crescent Solitaire skills, you'll be well on your way to mastering this engaging and challenging solitaire card game. Happy playing!
