How to Play

Mahjong Toy Chest is one of our many Mahjong titles with a colorful and playful style for a fun game experience.

To play, you solve the puzzle by matching tiles pair by pair. Match two of the same tile to make them disappear and earn points. You have to match all pairs within a 5 minute time limit. You can only match tiles that aren't covered by others, and that have either their left or right side exposed.

Strategically, you should match top tiles, and tiles on larger rows before matching those on easier paths, as this will open the way for more possible matches. When running out of possible matches, the game will remove some time from the timer, and shuffle the tiles so that matches are possible.

Here is how the game looks when you start a match. There's several different options to assist you.

  1. Score. This lets you know how much you've scored since the match has started. Match specific tiles for a better score. Tiles are split into 5 suits, and each has a specific value. You gain score by matching tiles to their value. The score number increases with the number of tiles on the board.
  2. Timer. This lets you know how much time you still have until the end of the match. You have to match all tiles before the time runs out.
  3. Hint. This lets you know a possible match, the tiles will be highlighted. The match isn't always the most ideal one to make, so watch out.
  4. Undo. This undoes your last match, placing the tiles back in their original position, should you want to rethink your play. You cannot undo after a shuffle.
  5. Switch. This will switch the view of the game from isometric to top-down. Switch between both views for the most ideal play style.
  6. Menu. This will pause the game and show you the menu options. Click on this to mute sound and music, check the help guide or quit the game.
  7. Selected tile. The tile you currently have selected will appear here. If  the tile isn't entirely visible, you'll be able to see it here. Both the tile you have selected and the one you're currently selecting will show up.
  8. Tile value. This shows you the value of the tile that you're currently selecting. Use this to find out the score you can achieve.

Special tiles

These special tiles will give you a particular effect when used.

Guitar. When matched, these will shuffle all remaining tiles around. Good if you feel like you're running out of matches.

Teddy Bears and Presents. These have no suit and as such, they will contain the highest score among possible matched tiles.

How is the score calculated?

General formula:

Final Score = All match scores + Time bonus + Win bonus + Awards.

Tile Values = range from 1 to 7 depending on the level and icon.

Match score = (Tile Value * Amount of Tiles) * (100 [or 110 if the hint wasn't used]) / 100.

Time bonus = the number of remaining seconds * 10 points.

Win bonus = 1000 points.
